I have a mercury 60 with the following wires, Black,grey,brown,red,purple,yell/blk,blk/yell,yell/red.
can anyone tell me what they relate to as i wish to put them on a 4 position key ignition starter switch

Also found this:
A terminal, purple wire
B terminal, red wire, may have purple stripe
C terminal, purple with white stripe
S terminal, yellow with red stripe
M terminal, black yellow stripe
M terminal, black this terminal is a little taller then the other M terminal.

I don t know any details can you help, the only numbers i have are:
pw332 7778 a1 eng 843584.
the other problem is it is in forward gear i don t know if its stuck but i don t want to try two hard incase i domage anything.
do you have any pointers

On my 40 merc, the connector on the shifter at the front of the engine had come loose. It is some type of snap connector that has disappeared. When mine sticks in forward, I pop the cowling and reattach the shifter and it's good to fo go for another 2 months. One day I'll fix it proper. But wont be today.
