We have a Mercury 50 hp, 2006 (serial 1C014389) that recently began spewing fuel. When we took the VST apart, the float looked like it had imploded or exploded! Anyone have any thoughts on why this might happen? We've had it for about six months, but we've only run it in a container to flush it several times with saltaway, and it was running great until we were almost ready for our maiden voyage (of course!). We had recently changed all the fuel lines and installed a new portable fuel tank, but can't imagine that would have caused anything. thanks for any insight!!

No real clue other then maybe some kind of chemical was used that caused it. Maybe someone filled the VST with carb cleaner and let it sit
