Mercury 50hp 1986 CDI

The CDI of my Mercury 50hp Year 1986 has 8+4 pins. All replacement parts have 6+4 pins. Anyone knows if it can replace the old one and / or how to wire it

Are you talking about the switchbox, trigger, stator or what?

A 1986 motor would have 4 coils, and a single switchbox. What do you have?

I need the switchbox. About the year I am not sure. Engine number ending w. 86 but some table shows it might be 1980/81 engine. 4cyl 2 stroke 4 coils. Single switchbox. Part number 5772A2

Gee, how about this one...It has 8+ 5 connections. Real cheap, so likely some Chinese part, but there are so many to choose from.

Of course, you could go on the maxrules site with your serial number, and get the year of the motor and look up the correct switchbox on crowleymarine or some other parts site.
