Hello I have a question regarding the wiring harness on my 500 thunderbolt mercury serial number starts with 648 can't remember the rest, its a 1984 switch box/coil type.
I am rewiring the harness and was wondering if I need the inline fuse currently on it, its on the red power supply wire? I ask because when I look up the OEM diagram there's no fuse...
Also, my stator does not have the wires, yellow red/ red yellow( I think those are the colors) going from the stator to the rectifier. It just has the wires that go to the switchbox. Question is, can I not hook up the rectifier?

If there's no fuse on the OEM drawing, then you are probably ok to leave it out. If the current stator doesn't have the charging coils for the rectifier, I guess it's going to be difficult to connect them to a rectifier. Do you have a rectifier in the engine?
