mercury 45/50

hello, new to this site, i've just bought a boat with a mercury ob the decal says 45, but the guy selling says it's a 50. the ser. no. is ob225042 the carbs are leaking managed to get them off this morning for a clean up. could you tell me what year it is, and what fuel mix is correct. cheers jonah.ps its got 4 cyl.elec. start.

The mix would be 50:1. Tried looking up that seriel# but could not find ob225042. Check it again if you could. cheers

I'd suggest that it is likely a 1987 Mercury 45HP 4Cyl, 2-stroke.<br /><br />1987 USA s/n started at B110789<br />1988 USA s/n started at B238644
