Re: mercury 40hp

It does sound like a low/no voltage problem. Did you say the ignition switch is new? If it is, I would suspect a broken cable somewhere in the harness, probably at the point of maximum flex. It's going to be a difficult one to nail down if it's intermittent...

Unfortunately it just going to take good old fashion 'leg work'... You're going to need to check everything... The fact that the TnT stops working is a great help. Start looking at what the ignition and the TnT have in common. Do you have a circuit drawing?

Re: mercury 40hp

I don't have one specifically for a 1992, 40hp, but I have drawings that I would use (different engines, but I know the wiring is the same)... I assume you have a Commander side mount control box with the trim switches in the control handle. If so, I can scan them for you...

I've scanned and uploaded, here's the link to that folder...

Note that the engine is actually an 80, but the diagram should be the same... I hope the control box is the same as yours, but again the basics of the wiring, colours and layout should be the same.

If the resolutions not good enough for you, PM me your email address and I'll email the full size ones to you...
