Mercury 40 hp 4-Stroke Big Foot Good or Bad

I have just purchased a 24 ft pontoon boat and am considering a Merc 40 hp Big foot. Anyone had experiance with this motor or would recommend another manufacture. We are on a small lake and 40 hp is plenty big enough.

I have never used a bigfoot style motor, but if I owned a pontoon boat, that is the type I would look for. <br /><br />I would not be afraid of Mercury either.<br /><br />Don't know how many pontoon boater read this forum, so your responses may be spotty.

There are other comments on the big foot on this forum. Generally well liked. Search the words and you will find the comments. I have a new 25 HP and am anxiosly awaiting the thaw to try it out. By all accounts it is a fine motor.<br /><br />Good-luck
