My choices are down to two motors now.
Must haves:
Short transom, 15inch.
Tiller steering
Merc EFI 40. Had a 40 two stroke a few years ago, I absolutely loved the gas assist, but got tired of manual start. This new motor has elec start, and still offered with gas assist, which is great for bumping slowly over logs in swamps where I run a lot. More research shows the tiller would be added after the purchase, and I'm getting some neg reviews on this kit, and prices are all over the map different.
Tohatsu/Nissan 40 TLDI. At first I thought I was getting this, then held off for a few months. I know its a good motor, but has TnT, not the worst thing, but just costing me for something I don't want/need. It's still two cycle too.
I've had a lot of outboards over the years. But never a four stroke. That's hard for me to get past, but the Merc may be the best compromise.
So my last question, does anyone here own a 40 EFI Tiller ? I'd love to chat with you.
Thanks!
Mark
