Need some help... Got a 2004 merc 50'4 stroke that all of a sudden is acting up. It has been setting for about a month since last running. Try to run it today and it will crank fine and run for a few seconds..... then cuts off. Pump the bulb again and starts and cuts off. Gas is a little old so I drain the tank, change the fuel filter and new gas and go again. Same thing. So it seems that it's not getting the gas. Maybe varnish/build up in fuel system? So I put Seafoam in the fuel filter-crank it and after a few seconds it dies and I let it sit for 30 minutes hoping the Seafoam does it. Pump bulb, try again, same thing. Repeat: half gas half Seafoam in fuel filter and try it. Same result runs for a few seconds and dies. And won't crank again until bulb is pumped and then motor just repeats. So roll up the sleeves and I check the fuel injectors but I can't really see if they are clogged or not and also to my surprise there's no small thimble style filters in the the injectors, so now what? Fuel pump? Did it go bad just sitting? I'm at a loss... Thanks so much for any help.
