My 20-foot tracker has an 87 merc 35 that is real hard to shift from f-to-n the cable works easily when disconnected. Is there an adjustment of the sliding linkage in the motor housing? Shifts great in all other modes. Thanks for the help.

Re: Mercury 35 hard shift

No friction adjustment at engine but if this is not a power trim unit you might have some interferance with your reverse lock.

Re: Mercury 35 hard shift

Hondon, thanks for response. Re-read my post and noticed tht I forgot to mention that with the cable disconnected the "binding" is in the shift actuating slide/shift rod/lower unit stuff (originally I thought it was interference with the flat washer under the mounting bolt of the shift anchor bracket). I can't find the reverse lock on the mercury parts list, is that in the control lever assembly?
