I have a 2006 Mercury Pro xs purchased in 2020. It worked great that year, but then has sat unused for 2 years due to covid and CA drought. Initially this spring it would start but die right away. I rebuilt the fuel pump, replaced both fuel pumps in the vapor tank, the fuel filter, the squeeze ball and fuel line and the diagphragm assembly as it had a tear in the rubber. Now it will turn over but not fire. It will start with ether and continue to run after the ether is gone, but when you turn it off it will not restart. Any ideas? I did find a thick substance on the boost fuel pump screen when I removed the old one. Not sure where that came from.
