Re: mercury 250 efi too much smoky

I'm not a mechanic but am working on this item with a marine mechanic:
I am working on the same problem ON my boat. 2007 mercury outboard, 115HP EFI> you may have a cracked vent hose in the fuel module. This lets fuel be sucked into the intake manifold. runs rich. My engine lock down and the lower cylinder was full of fuel.
Mercury bulletin talks of problem but do not like their fix. I have pictures and am writing a report if you share an email.
Where are you located< I live in west union, south Carolina, lake keowee is our favorite lake.

what is you serial number and model. look up the part for fuel and see it you have the fuel module. with EFI there is a "fuel regulator" The fuel injection pump runs constantly. mine is in the fuel module and the VACUUM hose to the fuel regulator was cracked, sucking fuel into the intake and thus the engine. rich!
lock it down. good luck. I had to research mine to find the problem also.
