Hello people greetings from Croatia !! :)

Please , i'll really appreciate advice regarding this :

I have two stroke Mercury 25Hp ML '88year outboard engine on which one of the flywheel magnets has broken and fallen off (but i've collected all pieces ..) and other one has start coming loose also , theres two magnets on the flywheel (as you can see on the pictures ..)

This engine has CDI ignition and now , with just one flywheel magnet , it works only on one cylinder - i have spark only on one cylinder ...
I can't find/obtain an second hand/replacement flywheel for this engine (the magnets can't be changed separately , whole flywheel must be replaced as a unit together with magnets ..) and new flywheel cost more than new engine ... which is a bit OT for my budget ..

So i was wondering can i glue this magnets back on the flywheel somehow ?! with epoxy glue , liquid metal or something ?!?!

Pics :

The ignition pick up system which is under the flywheel (undamaged)

Flywheel (the other magnet which also starting to come on loose .. you can see the crack ..)

Flywheel (as said , i have all bits of the broken magnet , they fit back tight in place but i dunno how , with what kind of glue , if at all i can or can't glue them back on the flywheel surface without them coming loose during the engine running .. which , if it happens , could make just more damage tearing apart the ignition pick up system ...)

Thanks !

Kind regards

Re: Mercury 25 ML broken flywheel magnets

you will have to get a new flywheel.with the magnets being broke you now have 4 south polls and 4 north polls.you may have spark on one but it will not fire at the right time.also your output voltage will not be within spec.

Epoxy glues such as JB weld may be strong enough to repair what you have. You may have a problem using sectional magnets glued back together, but what the heck? maybne it will work.

Otherwise, just replace the parts that are broken.
