my opinion is the saltwater series is a marketing ploy. they all corrode. saltwater useasge means washing the motor with soap and water when done.

Saltwater motor means they use(maybe) more stainless in building it. I don't have a saltwater series, but for the 11 seasons I have mine, & only run in saltwater, I have no problem. I flush every time, I use saltaway every time, maybe it's no better than dish washing liquid, maybe it is, but my 225 Merc. is happy. I wouldn't worry, unless you paid extra for a saltwater engine, then go get some money back, & enjoy what you have. IMHO, Joe

I'd only be concerned if they charged you the saltwater price, then gave you the freshwater version. Unless you are leaving the engine submersed in Salt for long periods of time the differences wont be apparent. Just make sure you flush the engine after each Salt water use and run it until it gets warm so the t-stats open.

Nav
