New to forum .. hoping someone can point me in the general direction.
Engine has run fine for the 5 years we have had it (attached to a Whaler Sport150). Engine is serviced each year when winterizing.
Twice this summer the engine has bogged down/missed under load (when towing a tube behind the boat). Immediately after these events, my wife (driving boat at the time), has removed all weight (passengers and tube) and run the boat at top speed with no bogging/missing. Its nothing stupid like forgetting to unscrew the air screw on the gas tank.
Unable to get hold of my usual service agent, so trying the forums to see if anyone has any immediate things to suggest.
I have heard about regular fuel additives (ethanol or other things gas producers add), bunging up filters over time and getting symtoms something like were getting (and then when you back off the issue clears), but I don't want to focus on that at the expense of considering other possibilities.
Any pointers or things I might easily try myself (to avoid trailering the boat many miles to the agent)?
Many thanks, Haddock
