Can anyone tell me if Mercury 1965 Outboard Models 650E can be a collectable item. I have a Mercury 1965 Outboard Model 650E top condition. Still have the receipt from the pervious own. Motor maybe in the water for less than a couple of time. If anyone can tell me how much it is worth. I would be greatly appreciated.

Jim.

Clean motors are always worth more money to collectors. Your motor is not worth a lot today, but downthe water it may raise in value. One that runs goes for about 500 around here out of the paper. Most of them are getting scrapped out. So a complete clean one maybe worth holding on to.
you could ask here null as they would know better than I would. I have older stuff that I have kept, but just got a 1964 100HP to keep. Paid 250 for it.

corm

Corm,

Thanks for the advise. I think that I will keep the motor for my 16' Bayliner.

By the way, Do you know if a 65HP is enough for Wakeboarding or Sking?

Thanks
boatguy

Re: Mercury 1965 Outboard Model 650E

That 65 hp is a little small for serious sking or wake boarding on a 16ft fiberglass boat. The old Mercs did not have a lot of low end tourqe like the newer ones, but always ran nice. They ran nice on 15ft Al boats and 15 ft fiberglass of the 60's which
were lighter. Todays boats in general have better hulls, but weigh more so they don't always work good with older motors.
It will however be a fun project to do,and a
learnig experience. Hope you have a good time.
...have fun...corm
