My 18 Hp Mercury has the above carburetor. In the throat of the carb is a plastic 2 barrel thingy. Can the piece be removed in order to soak the carb ? Or can this carb just not be soaked? Of course the manual says never dip the plastic parts only clean with solvent and blow dry. I sure would like to be certain all of the passages are squeaky clean. The fuel pump side is easy as the diaphragms and gaskets can be removed. The primer comes out easily also.
