I just got a 1995 175hp Black Max on an old silverline boat and i was stupid and assumed since it was a 2 stroke that i had to mix oil into the tank so i did at a 50-1 ratio. so yesterday i was out on the water for the first time with it and i was running half throttle and it was putting out quite a bit of blue smoke and i just shrugged it off because that is how my waverunner looks. Well going about half throttle, about a mile into the river it just throttles down on its own and dies, when i turned the key to on the alarm went off and it would turn over about 3/4 way and then jam. after reading this i relized i might be in a bit of trouble with it. Is there anything i can do to get it running and clean without tearing it apart. and again it only turns over about 3/4 of the way then clicks and stops so i dont know what to do. i would think the injection system would be hooked up still if that alarm that went off is for oil. if someone could please help me with this that would be just awesome.

Barry, If you were running premix, it would not have seized, I wouldn't think. pull the spark plugs and see if ti will turn over by hand. If not, you likely thru or bent a rod. Post back and describe the color of the spark plugs. If it turns over, take a compression test.

well it looks like the plugs are dark with carbon but it wont turn all the way over, it will only turn over about 3/4 away around and then i have to spin the prop around for it to turn again. I dont think i threw the rod or else i would hear it clanging in there but it might be bent. would that cause the alarm to go off tho??

Barry, Are you turning the motor using your hands on the flywheel? I did not understand where you referenced the prop. Make sure the motor is in neutral and plugs out, turn CW with your hands on the flywheel. It should be smooth.

The gears could have been damaged as well. Dropping the gearcase may isolate the problem.
