Just a minute here while I dust off my crystal ball..........

It's gonna run somewhere just past when the check clears... to maybe 20 years or so.

It's a 2.5 L carbed V6. One of the strongest motors mercury ever built. Well maintained, and never overheated, run out of oil, or starved for fuel, it's more reliable than you are. Abuse it and it'll turn on you.

I think there might be some things you need to do to protect it from salt spray. Others on the board would know, I live in the middle of the continent.

hope it helps

Re: Mercury 150 outboard xr6

The oil injection system had some problems. Easily cured or prevented with an Electronic Oil Injection system from Marine Solutions. See WWW.marinesolutionswi.com.

The original oil system (On the I6) had some problems. This one has very few. It is possible to shell out the gear on the crank by grossly overheating the engine, or running the oil pump dry and seizing it up, but overall it's a very reliable system.
