Im trying to get ready to winterize my boat/ engine. Is there any water i should be worried about in the engine? And how do i get rid of it? And what else should i be doing to get ready for winter?

Re: Mercury 150 blue band.

As long as the engine is trimmed full down, all the water will drain out.

As per the factory manual the following steps should be taken to prepare an outboard for winter storage.

Fuel system
Add stabiliser to the fuel tank/s. Run the engine (on flushers) for about 10-15 minutes to ensure the stabilised fuel reaches the carbs.
Then remove the fuel line and when the engine start to stall (lack of fuel) spray Sorage Seal into the carb throats until the engine stalls from a lack of fuel.

Engine.
Now remove the plugs and pour a small quantity of 2-stroke oil in each cylinder. Rotate the flywheel by hand to distribute the oil. re-install the plugs.

Gear housing.
Drain the gear oil and re-fill with new.

Store the engine in the vertical position.

Remove batteries from the boat and store in a cool (but NOT freezing) dry place. Make sure they are fully charged.

Well, I agree to use stabilized fuel, and run it a few minutes, with prop removed. Now spray fogging oil into the carb throats. Try to stall her. If no stall turn her off. Remove flusher and let water drain. Change gear oil. Pump grease into the fittings. Grease steering rod. Disconnect battery and charge it.

Don't run multiple carb motors out of fuel.

Take the cover off the engine. Have a look at the front of the engine. You'll see 3 small carburettors. Each of them feed 2 cylinders. The section inside the carb that the fuel is mixed with the air (basically the where the air flows) is call the throat, or venturi, or barrel....

If you know cars, same principles...
