Dont' know if this is the proper section of the forum, but if it isn't could you let me know where to post it.
I need advice on whether or not a 2001 Mercury Four Stroke 15 HP would make a good kicker for my boat. I have several ?s, but don't want to go on if this isn't the right section. Thanks a lot!

Re: Mercury 15 Kicker Question

I've got a 1998 Starcraft Fisherman 19.5 feet long. Deep V with a raised transom on either side of the main motor which is a 2003 90HP 2 stroke Johson. It is rated for a 150.

I have a 5.5 Fisherman, 1960 Evinrude on there now. It is a long shaft, but when I get a couple of people toward the front when trolling into a little chop, the kicker comes out of the water on an up and down basis. I believe from measuring my Evinrude, that I need an extra long shaft. The owner says the Mercury is an extra long or at least he thinks so. It measures 30 inches from where it sets on the transom to the bottom of the Skeg?? I haven't seen it yet, although I know the person selling it. I'm concerned about a couple of things. Whether or not it will troll slow enough, will the rate be a factor, about 112 pounds and are they reliable. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my post, Captain. Marty
