I bought a new Mercury 135 V6 which is just about run in now (done 8/9 hours but still on 50:1 mix fuel). Runs great no problems at all - until we try to pull a skier. The engine just dies at 2000 revs. this remains the case (even without skier) until we swap to the spare fuel tank - and the engine runs fine again.

We thought originally that it was a fuel tank/line blockage as swapping the lines seemed to solve the problem.. until the problem occured on the spare tank too.

Can anyone throw some light on the matter???

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Re: Mercury 135 V6

Fuel Pump. Have someone pump the fuel bulb when you approach 2000 rpm. I suspect that you are not getting enough fuel. This is a down and dirty quick test for the pump.

Good luck.
