Replaced STATOR,TRIGGER,BOTH SWITCH BOXES AND #2 COIL and i still have week spark.Took it out because it sounds good on the muffs but is very low on power in the water,i can tell it is firing on all six by used a timing light to detect ignition spark at each wire.Problem started when i was pulling wires off one at a time as it was running to do a cylinder balance as the motor has been running strong and i should not have done that but i felt a slight miss from time to time at low rpm and was trying to make it perfect. Now it cant get out of its own way and spark wont jump a ST125 SPARK TESER.This cdi system puts out 40kv and should jump the gap of the tester.I did not replace everything at once stator and trigger first then i played the switch box game with a couple i had in the shop before putting new ones on, after the new ones it had spark on 5 cylinders and found #2 coil not working and repaced it and now at least fires on all six.I am thinking i smoked the original stator by pulling wires off ungrounded and i am thinking defective new part or something fried the new part not sure thinking of replacing everthing at once again.Any advise would be helpful i iam going to check all my grounds disconnect the black and yellow, disconnect the rectifire yellow wires to see if hot spark comes back and then guess its the DVA TESTING procedure,i have a DVA adaptor for my meter but never done this before and i manual iam an auto tech for 25 years.ANY ADVISE GUYS?

If you have weak spark on all 6 its a stator problem...weak V in = weak V out..Hook up your meter and test stator output

Okay this is were iam at i wanted to confirm week spark on all six before dva testing so i tested each coil one at a time with st 125 spark checker and found NO SPARK on #3...#5 and #4 i have no idea how.The other cylinders did throw good blue spark and jumped the tester with flying colors so i had a couple of coils from the motor i changed 3 years ago they are blue in color its an old 1990 135 black max any way i substited the coils one at a time testing before and after and everytime i put a coil on it worked really good i could here it working cracking good with a nice blue spark.Seems odd the coils are all going bad and makes no sense to me could not grounding the plug wires have caused this? All six are working as should for now motor fires up with a touch of the key and motor sounds good i will see next weekend when a take it out.I will post back with an update THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP i have been following your post for years you are very helpfull.I really am not confiinced iam good to go not sure if its messing with me or not find out asap.

Okay update took out ran great plenty of power no stalling smooth idle great throttle response,i read some post that said running your motor or cranking it over with plug wires off doesnt damage anything its just a precaution for saftey more then damage any electrical components fact is i was pulling a power balance test on my motor and it **** 4 coils riight now so perhaps they were on the way out and pulling the wires off bumped up the spark out put and did them in all i can tell you is my experiance and yes when i initally tested the spark out put it was week woulding jump the tester perhaps bad coil or coils from the get go.I should have jumped to testing the DVA voltage at the coils first spec is 150V i opted to start changing parts i like fresh parts anyway.CDI is putting out an updated Merc coil 184-0001 gonna get six of those bad boys and keep them around i dont want to touch a thing at the momment runs too good to mess with.

Something else happened to damage those coils...If that was the case everytime you did a cylinder drop test it would chit the coils. JMO your better off with the Sierra brand
