Yes and no. Yes, TOPs are often used on vintage race and pleasure boats, but no, unless in good running condition NOW, they dont bring high prices.
Running when put away/stopped using it is basically still a parts motor until proven otherwise.
You might find someone who has 1 that NEEDS yours for a rebuild, or who grew up w 1 and is now looking for one to out on their boat now.
A 2 year production run doesnt make it more collectible to most. There are probably a few diehard Merc fans that might like to have it, but they arent likely to pay much for a currently not running motor, 2yr production or not. There were still probably a million of them sold.
Stored for 10yrs is hard on old boat motors, the under cowl wiring esp. Anyone that currently sells parts for it will know its a 2yr production run, and will probably charge accordingly, particularly for NOS parts, most likely used parts too.
Good luck, unfortunately, selling the motor and trailer w the Caravelle is the best way to sell the boat. But the trailer and motor will probably sell for more if seperately sold.
Then you've got a trailerless and motorless boat to get rid of. Not always an easy thing to do, even now, just before boating season starts in most of the lower 48.....
Best of luck again,
EDIT: Further research suggests its a 2 yr run, 1968 and 1969
