hey guys,
i have a 18' boat with a '98 Force by Mercury 120 that we bought this summer. It has ran very good so far @ tops out @ over 40mph. However, Ive recently come accross a 2001 Mercury 125 i can get a deal on and after i sold my current motor would probably cost me next to nothing to make this swap(other than a few hours of my time to rig it)
MY question is do you think it would be worth making this swap? From what i understand, my force has a mercury lower, and some merc electronics, but it still a force powerhead (non oil-injection), where as the Merc 125 is oil injected, and has 2+2 design(i'm assuming)? Any other signifcant worth-while differences/reasons to upgrade? Performance wise, is it safe to say these motors will perform similiarly since only a 5 hp difference?
thanks in advance!

The 125 will perform better than the 120 ...

Can you tell me more about this swap and if you did it? I’m considering a very similar one for my 89 force 125
