I'm thinking of buying a boat with this motor on it.<br /><br />Can anyone tell me the approx. year of the motor by this pic?<br /><br />Much appreciated....<br /><br />

Never question Laddies. Next time you look at it write down the serial # on the plate above the transom mount and post it here.

Neonbee, That is identical to my '77 1500. You may want to keep the serial number handy when you are parts shopping, since there are serial groups that affect some of the components.

Is that the tail end of an old Glastron I see in that pic? Would be nice to see a shot of the whole package, as the motor shown is looks to be in great shape.

I have a 79 140 so I know it isn't that new as the decals are totally different. How do you post a picture on a post?

Pick it up next Saturday.<br />Custom painted Indingo blue/charcoal grey with med. metal flake and deep clear coat.<br />BTW....like the pics on your rebuild..great job!! I just ordered an owner's manual from Mercury Parts Express. Go to:<br /><br />www.mercurymarine.com<br /><br />At the top of the page, move your cursor over "shop" and it will drop down a menu. Click on Parts Express and it will take you to a new page. Click on parts for mercury marine products, enter your serial number, etc. and when you get to topic click on accessories on the drop down menu. Should show your manual if it is still available. Mine was about $21 plus tax and shipping. Great looking boat--hope you enjoy it!

By the way, I also got a Seloc repair manual off eBay for much less than in the store ($22.95 vs. $36.95 retail). If you want to sign up for the online manual you can go to www.selocmarine.com and order, but it will cost you $36.95.

The factory Mercury service manual is p/n 90-75512 and is available through mercury parts express for $63.25 (CDN Dollars). They pop up on Ebay on occasion, but I do not see any at the moment. I'd recommend that factory manual instead of Seloc or Clymers based on my experience.<br /><br />I bought my boat in Guelph earlier this year.
