I replaced the stator because the wiring was shot. I replaced it with Sierra International 18-5854. Now when I runs there bad miss somewhere. I can not get it to run long enough to check with my timing light. I want to know the new stator had an extra black wire that me original did not have. I grounded it to the bottom of the rectifier. Is this stator suppose to have the extra black wire?

The newer stators can have a separate ground wire(Merc and aftermarket)

Faztbullet I wanted to ask you this also. The wires that run from the stator to the switch box lower (red/white and blue/white instead of red and blue). The wires on the top switch box is a (teal green and red). Is this the same stator?
