1970 model
...Left sitting with fuel in system for over a year. Replaced fuel/mix, then;
Did start after many pulls, but would only run at idle speed (but smooth). Open the throttle and it stalled.
Investigation found fuel contamination (rust in tank) and crud in carburetor and fuel pump.
-Carburetor cleaned and rebuilt.
-Fuel pump cleaned and rebuilt
-Fuel & pulse lines replaced
-Spark plugs replaced
-Fuel tank/line replaced
* Stator replaced (new) about 7 years ago, along with all new wires
What should I be looking at?

Looking for my cheapo spark tester.
Ordered a compression tester.
Do these model years have points? Have not dug into top to look just yet...

If you post the serial # someone might be able to look up on the points.----1970 model really means nothing as years are often a wild guess.

It has 2 sets of breaker points.----They might need cleaning / adjusting .-----New ones are available for a mere $102 EACH.

Well I don't like the sound of that!
I thought the Thunderbolt ignition was a "no points" set-up.
Live and learn.
Trying to check the coils...
Post to post/primary I get .4 ohms.
Plug tower to either post I get nothing.

There appears to be a set of 2 breaker points for $ 110.

That ignition relied on the points making contact to trigger the spark, if they are clean and set properly they should fire a plug. I don't have the gap setting info sorry.
