mercuiser power steering pump pulley

I have a 1997 merc 5.7 I am not sure if this is common was out yesterday cranking at 3700 rpm and the power steering pulley exploded nothing locked up so i think its because its a plastic pos. How ever i cant seam to find a new one that's the same? i am also looking for a metal one its the serpentine belt style mine measures 4 3/4 inches. If anyone can point me in the right direction would be appreciated .

get it from your mercruiser dealer. while the pump is a GM saginaw, the pulley is mercruiser specific.

Dont have any dealers near me so i 100% have to get it online haven't been able to find one do they make metal ones? i see Iboats sells one but it looks plastic and its bigger.

there are hundreds of mercruiser dealers that sell on-line such as crowley, etc. all you do is punch in your serial number and you get a tailored parts breakdown so you can order the right part.

I found 861578 as the sub for your pulley Sierra 18-8927 is $20 less. Google them.

V6 and V8 305/350 cid engines:
Old pulleys were plastic and 4-3/4 in. (121 mm) in diameter. The new pulley will be metal
and 5-3/4 in. (146 mm) in diameter. The plastic power steering pump pulley is going to
become NLA. For a replacement pulley for an engine with a plastic pulley, order a Belt/Pulley Kit.
A new Belt Kit will be required when installing a Closed Cooling Kit on V6 and V8 305/350
cid Sterndrive engines with the metal 5-3/4 in. (146 mm) pulley.

NOTE 1: Closed Cooling heat exchanger may have to be moved to starboard slightly to clear new, larger pulley.
new belt size should be 97.5 Sierra 18-15115

ok thanks for the help got lucky found someone 45 mins away that has new pulley how ever i need a bigger belt because its bigger.
