Mercrusier prop hub removal

I have a 17p prop off my Mercrusier outdrive and the hub is spinning so I was wondering how to remove the hub. Seems pretty melted and stuck. I use a 15/16 socket with fit perfect in the hole of the prop and started to hit it from the front so it would pop out of the back. Is this the correct way to remove it?

You are trying to remove the hub from a prop on the bench? What kind of hub is it - picture is worth a thousand words.
