Thunderbolt IV ignition was dead. Optical sensor was a bit rusty. No Spark after a winter layup.
Engine has less then 70hrs. 1996 5.7L

So far replaced:
Thunderbolt ignition with V version.
Optical sensor + rotor cap.
Plug wires + ignition coil.
All filters.
Cleaned carb> it was clean anyway.
Set float levels. Fresh fuel.
Everything seems to be just fine.
Water temp 140, choke opens.
Commpression test fine.

Engine starts and runs perfect.
After about 5-10 mins at idle she starts to run rough, sounds like the ignition system is trying to change timing to compensate for stalling engine?
Then she dies blowing a lot of fuel back out of the carb. (4 barrel Webber).

Now starting is very very hard or impossible.
Sounds like the engine is flooded.
When/if U get her running again the time to stall is a lot less. eg: 1-2 mins.

Leave her overnight or 1/2 hour or so and the same will happen.
Starts first kick, runs for x then stalls.

Thanking you in advance El Ray.

sounds like the float in the carb is sticking. When the boat has been standing the float bowl drains (evaporation mostly). It takes a bit to fill it hence it runs OK for a short time. Subsequent stops for shorter times leave the bowl taking less time to over flow. I think you need some carb help. Hard starting is likely due to flooding from over flowing float bowl. Could also be a damaged float or needle valve.

If carb checks out and fuel delivery is ruled out, check the coil. See if there is spark when engine dies. Had a 4.3LX with same symptoms. Installed a new coil and solved the problem. As a coil heats up the insulation in the windings can break down and short. Let it cool, it starts back up, but the run time seems to gets shorter and shorter. This one also backfired thru the carb like it was a lean fuel condition, but could not chase down any fuel problems. Something else to check....
