Mercrusier 165 problems

I have replaced carb, plugs, fuel filters, wires, rotor, cap, and converted to Pertronix ignition. Timed perfect at 6 degrees BTDC, but still I have no
acceleration, missing, seeming fuel starvation.

Could I have a weak fuel pump? I am at a loss. It idles smooth but provides
no acceleration on demand. Fuel tank is new and fuel is clean and non-oxygenated.

Suggestions for troubleshooting this?

I would suggest taking off the fuel line from the pump and see if you can blow threw the line, check to see if its clogged, if that is ok, I would replace the fuel pump, common problem with age. I believe you'll need a marine pump, by law.

Re: Mercrusier 165 problems

fuel pump pressure should be 3.5-4.5 psi

anything in front of the fuel pump could be at issue too. anti siphone valve, water in the fuel, fuel tank vent clogged. to eliminate anything in ft. of the fuel pump, ya can run an aux. fuel tank right to yer fuel pump......

maybe accelerator pump in the carb too.
