Hi all,
I am an aviation mechanic trying to troubleshoot a boat problem for a good friend(no good deed goes unpunished?)the boat is a 32 ft fountain fever with twin mecruiser 503 ci engines.when you start th starb. engine i get a low water pressure warning.I removed the feed hose(going in to the water pump on front of the engine)and had very little water in the line .Repeted on port engine and had plenty of water @ water pump. The owner speculates an impeller.Any ideas as to where this impeller is located,is it something for someone mechaniclly inclined or for a boat mech only
Any help anyone could send me on this would be wonderful my e-mail is kurtontx@wmconnect.com
or post on the forum
Kurt

Since Im in the same boat as you...A@P/IA but love boats... We need make model and year to help ya bud.

Mercrusier..Its in the lower part of the outdrive!

Trentcr@hotmail.com

You are going to have to replace the impeller and the housings and all the seals to do it correctly. Need make, model and year; Serial number would be even better!

Re: mercruiser water pressure warning

well i guess i just forgot one of the most basic things in being a troubleshooter/mechanic make model series
it is a 1995 fountian fever boat with twin 503 ci 500 horsepower mecruisers as for s/n i will have to go to the boat house tomorrowto get it
but if it is in the lower unit we may have to leave it in the hands of professionals. But i do have and open mind and the overwhelming urge to tinker so if any suggestions or someone who has done this before please let me know
Kurt
