I went out to get my 1997 Maxum (5.7L EFI) at my outer dock. I idled it to my home dock - 5 minutes. As I idled (only idled) to my home dock a crackly horn began to sound - hot water or low oil press. Motor, though never got hot. OP was good - oil clean new and full. Shut down. Added oil on the Boat Drive Reservoir from "Add" line to "Full" line. Boat now won't start.

Boat ran yesterday - used for about 2 hours.

Symptoms:

Key Start: Gages don't respond to 1st detent of key. At crank position - dead, no sounds, nada. (Boat does not have a separate batt switch).

Kill/Run Switch (has lanyard) - checked....in "Run".

Battery - 12.52v. Freshly charged. Used the day prior and today.

Cuddy Light and Radio which are hot wired - dead.

Motor WILL respond to Up/Down/Trailer Switch. Lots of power here. Normal.

All fuses under dash checked - all good.

Circuit Breaker Reset that is on the motor - checked, not popped.

Battery Terminals - checked.

Throttle - moved back and forth for detent idle stop. No luck. Checked the "pink" connections associated with this system - plugged in.

I live in the Pacific NW. If I don't fix it myself my Boating season is done - this time of year all shops are backed up 30 days or more.

Per the article I narrowed it down to the Slave Solenoid. What puzzles me is the two items that are hot wired, radio and cuddy light, don't work.

>>>Motor WILL respond to Up/Down/Trailer Switch. Lots of power here. Normal.<<

Separate hot lead that comes off the Battery.
