Hi Folks, Thanks in advance for your input/advice.

Here's the deal. I have an older 1971 Mercruiser 3.0. My lower shift cable was bad (stalling when I shift) and was pretty stiff sliding in and out. So I replaced it with a new lower shift cable. Smooth as silk now. Reassebled everything and adjusted the cables as per specifications. Here's the problem. Now the shift interrupter switch/plate doens't move at all. I mean AT ALL when i shift. I reached back and moved it manually ok. but it seems there's not enough resistance or something to make the plate move to engage the switch momentarily??

thoughts?

Also wanted to note, this is when the engine is not running and not in the water.
I'm wondering if maybe the shift interrupter plate only moves while engine is running in the water?

Call me Monday with your serial number of the engine and the part number of the cable you installed. If the switch will stumble the engine manually then you have an issue with an incorrect cable installed, incorrect installation or adjustment. Be glad to assist but need that information first. Thanks

Mod Edit - Can't do that, drydock No email or phone numbers.
