my searay 1986 with twin 260's Alpha 1 has a problem with one engine after running for 1 hour. It starts to run rough and miss, and I must idle it for a while or shut down.I am told it has to do with a heat sensor on the block or the manifold. Can this be repaired prior to launch in May, or must the boat be back in the water, and , does any one know what it is. <br />This only happens after 1 hour. Ichecked the water separating fuel filter, and put clean gas.

Change it now. If you think that is it. Sitting on the water or land with your head in a motor box the view is the same.

elliott, the only thing the heat sensor does on your engine is to give a signal to the temp gauge.unless you have added some other temp sensor.i would check out the ign. sensor and wiring from dist .to ign. amplifier and the amp. itself.maybe swap just the amps. see if the problem switches engines?????when checking the ign.sensors look for corrosion on the flat copper leads going to the printed circuit board of the sensor these were always covered with green corrosion.

John is right on this....go for the ignition..temp sensors dont make motors run bad...
