Inside of these pumps, there are two "Sealed" bearings, however, the manual says to put a "big ole glob" of grease in between the two, Why? Yes, when I replaced the bearings and seals, I forgot to put in the blob o grease.

I have no idea, but the manual is quite specific about putting it there, and even the type of grease. I'd pull it apart and put some in. It may have something to do with heat transfer....

The bearings are not actually "sealed", and need lubrication to protect them from rust, heat & wear. Packing the cavity between them is critical. If not, you'll see accelerated wear and eventual failure.

Probably not a good thing when it's all that stands between you and an overheated engine....

I'd pull the pump and redo it.... But that's because I hate extra work.... :D

I pull mine apart every fall inspect the stainless plate for wear, and replace the rubber vain. make sure it goes the right direction and fill it with vasoline. One year when i first got my boat i started it with muffs and it must of not got water quick enough and melted the rubber and case and put little chunks of rubber through the motor! (not good getting them out). so every end of season its done and ready for spring. I dont want that to happen ever again.
