Re: Mercruiser problem
Did you do the repairs you describe (replace fuel tank, clean filters etc) as an attempt to rectify the engine miss or did the engine begin to miss after you'd done these things? I'm trying to determine if you may have inadvertantly contributed to the problem... Say your new fuel tank's supply line, pick up tube, or vent isn't functioning correctly...something along those lines.

Like Fone_Man says...it's wise to check your ignition components too! Who knows what kind of critters may be roosting in your distributor cap! Years of non use can deteriorate electrical components as well as if they had mega hours logged against them, so you outta just go for broke (literally) and consider buying some new ignition parts...Nowadays you can get them at Napa or most other auto parts stores. You need not spend the extra money most marine dealerships charge. Be sure to have your engine's year, model, and serial number handy when you go to purchase parts...

Keep us posted of your progress! Good luck!

Walt
