Hello all. This is my first post. Let me thank you in advance for your responses.

I have a Mercruiser Alpha 1 outdrive. I have noticed that on the starboard side power trim cylinder that the aft seal has come loose. The ring that has the gap in it, a rubber seal, and a complete ring are pulled away from the cap on the cylinder. The trim seems to be working fine, and I don't notice fluid coming out were the seal is loose. Also, I don't have a fluid resivor by the trim pump.

I guess my questions are as follows:

1. Can I use the following kit (see link) to fix the seals myself, and how complex is the process?
Mercruiser power trim cylinder seal kit

2. Should I be concerned that there appears to be no reservior for trim fluid? Is there some place that I can check to be sure the system is full.

3. I have a sending unit on each side of the gimbal housing. One seems to go to the trim motor, and the other seems not to connect to anything... is this the wire that I can connect to a Trim guage?, because that would be nice to have at the helm.

Thanks so much for your help.
-Ryan
