Alpha 1 is in forward gear, everything is unbolted, but the shaft seems to be stuck...any ideas on how to wrestle this off? I have tried everything from a gallon of WD-40 to attempting to pull it off with a come a long (only drew the boat closer to the tree). HELP!!

I am guessing that the drive is stuck in the coupler? If you beleive so , put a 4x4 between the transom assembly and the top of the sterndrive and then run your tilt up .This generates a tremendous amount of torque and should only be used when all else fails .What else have you tried?

Re: Mercruiser outdrive stuck

so far I have removed the lower unit to prevent damage there, and to facilitate the putting in forward gear. I have managed to gently use prybars to get it about 1/2 inch off, and have even tried banging lightly on the top of the housing. I have also tried the come a long several times but to no avail. My rams need rebuilding too, so they are quite useless right now.
