Mercruiser Oil Cap

I just did the first oil change on a new Mercruiser 6.2 MPI and I noticed that the oil cap had a section of O ring hanging from it. The cap is the kind that ratchets similar to a car gas cap. Is this O ring supposed to be there? I tried to get a new on since the one I had was broken, but none of the suppliers I went to knew of this O ring, or had a replacement.

If you take the o ring to Home Depot or Lowes you can probably match it up . They usually have a selection of this kind of stuff.<br /> Bill

Ayuh,...... There IS an Oring on them I Believe,.... And it's just a Plain ole Oring like Bill says..... <br />About Any Auto or Farm or Plumbing Store should have an Oring Selection,.......
