I have a 1977 Formula 233 with a Mercruiser that I am at a loss as to what model drive it has.
Motor is an MCM 250 serial# 4768105
Drive serial# 4793307
From what I was able to glean from a website last night, I have an Alpha drive (flat top, no ridges on the sides). The transom assembly appears to be original but the drive looks Alpha. The actual drive on the boat is a new Sierra aftermarket. Can an Alpha drive fit an older transom assembly?

The boats seems to be leaking below at the exhaust bellows (below driveshaft) and I would like to see what is involved in replacing this, or if it can wait until this winter.

Thanks you in advance,
John

Re: Mercruiser model ID

Welcome to iboats... :) I don't have access to the exact year/model, but it is definately an Alpha. Any alpha drive (gen 1) will fit your set-up. Just make sure the gear ratio is right. 1.50:1. I wouldn't worry about the exhaust bellows, change them at the end of the season..J
