Hi, I have a problem I'm hoping someone might have an answer to. I have a 1974 GM 250 with an OMC Stringer Drive. My manifold is no longer any good and I need to replace it. I can only seem to find Mercruiser manifolds to fit this engine. Does anyone know if the manifold is compatible with my OMC Stringer.

That's the inline 6 like mine I think. I dunno' about the Merc fitting it, but you might want to look around the web a little for the OMC though - just found this one with a quick Google search. There are a couple of places that sell them as replacements too.

Aslong as the riser would fit up then there wouldn't be a problem. Anyone have experience with this?

the riser won't line up and neither will the piping/hose to the intermediate. I made one work using the Merc riser, but I have access to all sorts of exhaust hose and other piping and manifold parts. It's a trick to get it connected reliably, and it looked like hell afterwards.
people went to some effort to find you the right one, why do you want the wrong one so bad?

as far as i can tell OMC stopped making the manifold for the inline 6. other companys make the part but its really expensive and my boat is pretty old. the merc version is almost half the cost of the OMC version.

Re: Mercruiser Manifold OMC Stringer Drive

The posting I put up was only $100. I thought that was reasonable for the part (even if you have to pay shipping).

You might try watching Craigslist in your area for a little while. I've managed to get a great buy on some parts that way.
