Mercruiser Manifold 228HP

I have a 1980 Mercruiser 228 serial #5597773, it originally has the log manifold but I would like to change them to the 5.0-5.7L SB Center Outlet. Is it possible, and which manifold are they? Which year would fit this engine? My 1972 has the SB center outlet setup. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Look into the Merc Dry-joint manifolds,.... They're way ahead of the ole wet-joint manifolds, 'n risers,.....

The only problem ya might have is alignin' with the y-pipe,....

When you mean aligning the pipe is the modification to line up the rest of the hoses to the y-pipe? What issues can occur? What is the difference between wet joint and dry joint? Thank you for your information and help.
