Hi all,
OK so I need to connect my interrupter switch to my Hei distributor.
Do I either connect to the B+ red power wire and connect the switch as an inline system or connect to the negative tacho wire and run this system to an earth ?
It seems to me like either would work but not sure which system is correct ??
Your help please.
Thanks,
Mike

Bondo is right, make sure you get a marine rated distributor. When you do any of the systems that run the 12 v + to coil through shift interrupt (like Delco), you need a normally closed interrupt switch rather than the stock merc normally open that grounds out the ignition system momentarily. I have never done this myself, but I think Michigan Motorz can set you up with the right switch.

What is on your boat now? If you need a complete stand alone system the Delco has a good reputation. I just finished a repower and stuck with the merc Thunderbolt V so I wouldn't have to splice my harness and swap out the interrupt switch as mentioned above. The Tbolt gets a bad rap because the parts are expensive (module is $500 or so), but I was impressed with the spark it throws off, motor fires right up.

Wow ok not explosion proof that's a bit scary.
I've had a look on the net and I'm thinking about the DUI marine distributor.
From what I'm reading they have a HEI marine version.
Does anyone have any knowledge about these ?
Is it has simple has removal of existing and installation of new ?
The existing is the standard chev HEI with positive ignition red wire and negative to the tachometer.
The engine is a 350 Chevrolet vortex with a marine 4 barrel quadrajet.
Has for the DUI am I going to have to run new or modify any wiring?
As for initial and advanced adjustment is this done the same as the HEI ?
As for advance curve is the DUI adjustment done with different springs?
A few questions here but I want to know if DUI marine is suitable for my application.
Thanks,
Mike

DUI will put in the advance curve when you place your order. I forget whether it is via electronics or centrifugal, but they do set the distributor for your use.
I bet they can answer your questions about doing the shift interrupt setup too.
Their literature sounds like their stuff will do well. There was a member on here last year that did DUI and liked it fine. He redid a 5.7 in a heavy boat.

Hi All,
For anyone interested in the DUI marine distributor.
I have gone ahead and installed one into the 350 Chevrolet.
It had a standard HEI distributor and the DUI HEI dropped straight in with no modifications.
The B and Tacho wires plug straight in, the DUI comes with a couple of handling fittings that clip into place on the B and Tacho connections.
Will the high voltage output you can open the plug gap up to 055 this give and much greater fuel burn and the throttle response it great.i would recommend the DUI if anyone was thinking about it.
You can PM me if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Mike
