I have a mercruiser out drive powered by a 4 cyl chev. There are two ribbed oval hoses that hook from the outdrive to the transon mounting plate. The bottom hose burned completely thru. I dont know why. Does anyone know what this hose is for? Is it an exhaust hose? And is that why the motor got so hot? Like I said it is the bottom hose the top hose is fine but I will replace both to be safe. Are there other areas I should check? or does this just happen when that hose fails?<br />Thanks

yep its the exhaust hose and its the victom not the cause of the overheating.Top one is the bellows and keeps the water out of the drive shaft.
