I have a 1978 Reinell with a Mercruiser I. I am constantly getting complaints of the exhaust smell in my boat.
When the boat is idling the exhaust bubbles up just up against the transom. Originally I thought this was normal, but I'm beginning to wonder. On this drive it appears that there is an rubber piece that sticks out and makes itself flush against the drive when trimmed all the way down. Is this the correct design or am I missing an exhaust tube?
I originally thought the issue was simply that the hull is poorly designed and that the exhaust gets sucked into the cabin from behind the boat but I'm thinking there may be something else wrong.
