Mercruiser /G.M 3.0

Why does my engine "deisel" when i shut it off after running mid to wide open throttle. If i idle a little while then shut it off, it doesn't do it. I put 89 octane in it and seems to help,but not much. The owners manual only calls for 87. The boats a 2001 and its done this since it was new.tk

Idle might be too high...engine might be running too hot. Timing might be out.<br /><br />Operate the blower before turning the engine off..this might help lower the temp inside the cowling.<br /><br />TMD

You'd Better figure it out,+ Fix it....<br />You'll Destroy your motor if allowed to continue... It's Not Just an Inconvienance... It's a SEROIUS Problem that Must be addressed....
