I recently purchased a 5.7 mercruiser serial # 0L037276 from the company I work for. A guy who doesn't work here anymore had swiped the fuel pump. When he took the fuel pump it looks like he cut the plug on the engine side.

There are two sets of wires in the area where the fuel pump appears to tie in. One set is tan with a blue stripe and a black wire. This set has bullet connections. The other set is the cut set. This set is purple with a yellow stripe and a black wire. Which set of wires belong to the fuel pump?

Also can anyone tell me what year this engine was built?

Re: Mercruiser fuel pump wires

The bullet connectors are for an audio sender. Gear oil monitor most likely. The purple/yellow is the fuel pump (+ pos) that comes from an oil pressure switch close to the oil filter. They didn't want the pump to run w/out oil pressure. Black is ground.
I can't help with serial #, but am sending a PM on dif issue.
