This topic is going to be answered by ODDD1 probably, since he's my "designated" technician. Thank you in advance..!!!
Anyway I have my old 350 motor, Alpha gimbal, #1 outdrive. I have a brand new Y pipe kit from Mercruiser (a great deal) where it has 4" oval pipes. Now, I need manifolds and risers. Originally older Mercruisers 350 had log style manifolds, but what's the difference between log stile or center style. My motor was installed on a boat with transmission, and I don't see how a center riser won't fit. I am asking since price is almost HALF of log style. I am getting almost at the end of this boat project.....just few more questions, then I'll leave you alone until next spring... :D Thanks.

Val

Re: Mercruiser exhaust manifolds

hi valv,
i'm new to the mecrusiers and am in need of some mnifolds too, my impression was the centre rize manifolds give you abit more power, cause it doesn't have to travell the full distance, my problem comes from decideing which manifold - stainless steel/ light but expensive and was worried about heat and vibration maybe cracking, alloy/ disimilar material thought it may corrode fast, castiron/ rusting out heavy, hope this helps you out.
regards ReaCycled

Re: Mercruiser exhaust manifolds

Reacycled, my main concern is $$$. My budget for this boat is very limited, being such an older boat. The price difference from cast log to cast center, original Mercruiser is about 50% less for center. I was considering other exhaust options (mufflers, through hull, etc.) but I decided to stay with stock options.
Thanks.

Val
